    Time, where does it go?

My current struggle is working 8-5 in corporate America.  I don't know how people do this all their life.  It's a desolate place.  Josh and I have become so desperate for inspiration, that every week we are picking a country that we would like to visit.  This week, it's Germany.  So tonight I went to Barnes and Noble and leafed through EK's Germany guidebook.  There were some great pictures.  Nothing stuck out that has mandated a trip yet.  But, nevertheless, I'm inspired for the week!  If you happen to be reading this and have suggestions, please do share!

Also thought you should note the art gracing the top of this weblog.  It is by Egon Schiele.  I'm quite fond of a certain period of art revolving around Vienna around the turn of the century.  I love their landscapes.  I first saw his painting Four Trees at the Belevedere in Vienna.  Later I found out Schiele's specialty was erotic art.  whoops.  Not quite as fond of those pictures, but still claim his as a favorite due to the landscapes.

Sadly, it's already past my bedtime.  I sacrificed reading some of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in order to update tonight.

    All the best,

    Katie

P.S.  The British are really good at salutations.  You should expect me to become really good at this within the next 2-3 years

P.P.S.  I have tried to change the theme of the site.  If you are still viewing the pink and red site, you should definitely let me know!

  • My site right now is lame.  I'm fully aware and hope to make some moderate improvements so that the Tri Delt xanga community doesn't riot and humiliate me publicly.

    Thanks

  • So friends, it has been a long time.  I acknowledge that completely.  My fault.  However, I come to you with this sacrifice of atonement: YEAR IN REVIEW 2005!

So here it goes. . . inspired by Annie T this past weekend at Konnection, I'm going month by month to give the highlights and honorable mentions out to the years events.  (perhaps a low light in there every once in a while too)

    January

Highlight: January 12 First date with Josh Woodward.  This has indeed affected the whole year.

Honorable Mention: Trip to Miami for the National Championship game.  As Jay Albert puts it: "This is where the romance started."  Shout outs to Josh, Jay, Amy, and the women of tropical thunder: Keri Smith, Katie Seikel, and Nellie, for making the trip especially great.  Here is a picture of the boonchiest old man ever.  Like a stalker, I took this on the beach in front of our hotel.

    February

Honestly, I'm having a lot of trouble remembering this month.  So these may suck.

Highlight: I started to like Chinese food.

    Honorable Mention:  I don't know.

    March

Highlight: Spring Break trip with Kyla to Breckenridge and Colorado Springs!  I got to hang out with the sis at focus on the family, ski, and spend quality time with some of my favorite people in the world: the Roes.

Lowlight: Josh Woodward lost his election for student body president.  Three months of effort were out the window.  However, in retrospect, I’m so thankful that he didn’t win.  Who wants to deal with those people anyway?

    April

Highlight: Arkansas trip to see my sister Kenna.

    Honorable Mention:  I don't remember. . ..

    May

Staff training week!  What a wonderful place!  I only look back on Kanakuk with great memories.  Even staff training week is a great time of bonding and growing.  Perhaps the greatest things was being in such a wonderfully uplifting place and being surrounded by the beauty of Christ through scenery as well.

Highlight:  The moment Michael Tate took the stage at the camp wide gathering at K2, I suddenly transformed into a giddy middleschooler.  I couldn’t help it!  Just his voice in itself reminded me of the early days of Christianity in my life.  So I had to get a picture

    Honorable Mention:  NASCAR Party

    June - Kanakuk

Highlight: CAMO party.  I got into a fight over a milk jug with a fellow counselor.  The fight ended with 15+ girls surrounding my kicking body and the other counselor, after trying to tear my milk jug out of my death grip, realizing “O, this is Katie.  What am I doing?”

Honorable Mention:  K-Wet with my girls.  What a wonderful experience.  The girls really bonded and some great leadership qualities surfaced.  We even got to give the honor tripper award to Sarah.

    July - Oxford

Highlight: What I will call “The Oxford Experience”

Honorable Mention:  A lone bike ride up a mountain in Swizterland.

    August -

Highlight: Vatican.  It is the most amazing place on earth!

Honorable Mention: Rush.  Although I arrived late, I still love my deltas.  But even more than that, I LOVE our baby deltas!

Honorable Mention: PLC Retreat.  This was so much fun.  Henry and I are going to try to be the first ever OU students to attend 4 straight PLC retreats!

    September

Highlight: Hosting Martin Feldstein.  He was the economics advisor to president Regan and at the time I hosted him, one of the top candidates for the nomination of FED Chairman.  He teaches Micro at Harvard.

Honorable Mention: OU Football.  Even though the season did not turn out for us, OU football is such an exciting event on campus, it cannot be neglected.

    October

    Highlight:  OU/TX Weekend (and WICKED)

Honorable Mention:  Everything’s up to date in Kansas City.  I have no pictures of this, but Val and I took the most wonderful roadtrip to Kansas City.  We shopped and ate at the cheesecake factory and then headed home.  Three cheers for good times in the car with friends!

    November

    Highlight: Thanksgiving skirt.

Lowlight: Dolphin Dots weekend- I spent a whole day working on Dolphin Dots

    December

Highlight: Morgan Mystery Vacation (MMV) to New York City.  I got to see Wicked on the 2nd row! ! ! ! ! ! We also saw Fiddler on the Roof and Dirty Rotten Scoundrals.  New Year's Eve was spent in Times Square.

Honorable Mention:  Becoming Tri Delta President!  I love Tri Delta Theta Gamma!

Sorry, there were going to be more pictures, but I exceeded my capacity!  I hope you enjoy anyway!

    - The Answer -

God is generous to us!  His gift is his presence!  In it we become all who he created us to be.  Not that we are perfect, but that we are living as we were intended to - in him.  Not that we don't have sin or imperfections, but that in his presence, he'll start to remove them.  Not by our own work or deeds - purely through grace.  (hence he is kind and generous)

As long as I'm in his presence, I feel like I've achieved life and could die happy.  I'm content.  This isn't to say that I'm going to become a lazy slob and do nothing in my life.  No, this is only to say that my soul is at peace.

So, my friends, if this is life, if this is the purpose for living, why don't we wake up for it every day?  Why isn't the first thought in our head "Good Morning Lord!  I can't wait to live in your presence today!  I can't wait to see what is in store for me!"

And an even more important question - How can i share this with others?  If God is the key to life, and the only place I find satisfaction and contentment, why don't I share it more often?
